“The Architect I Like” is a 2021 Essay Writing Competition, organized by Thali Talks, For Students and Freshers of Architecture on achievement of Architects in Tamil Nadu. This is a Single Author Essay Competition. Top Essays win Cash Prizes and Selected essays will be published.
The competition is open to registered architectural students who are pursuing a bachelor’s/master’s degree and recently graduated within 3 years, in accredited schools of architecture in Tamil Nadu. Selected essays will also be published on thalitalks.com. More Submission requirements will be sent to registered participants.
THEME
“The Architect I Like” essay competition is looking for your thoughts and opinions of both young professionals and students on the Architect that they like. Tamil Nadu is known for the temple, civil and community architecture since ancient times. To understand more about the Local Architectural Practice, we have to see through the eye of Architects who belongs to the land. This Essay competition may encourage young minds to document and explore about the Architects and their practice in this Region.
The participants are expected to write essays along with relevant images on an architect which they like, based on publications, personal interviews, awards, and their achievements, and other Data. This Essay competition is a way to document the works of Creative Minds of Tamil Nadu.
A write-up of 2500 words on the Architect and his/her contribution to the Architecture in Tamil Nadu. (Word Formate)

What can be submitted?
Text of up to 4000 words or less. (2500 words min.)

All submissions should be digital:
Text submissions, including footnotes, citations, and illustration notes, must be submitted digitally in .doc format.
Images must be submitted in .jpeg format
Vector-only graphics should be submitted in .pdf formats or .PNG formats.
The medium of Submission is the English Language.
– The entry/entries should be sent to essays@thalitalks.com with the subject line “The Architect I Like” – The submission should also include the email and names, the field of studies/Institutes
– All entrants must mention their social media handles with the entry/entries (Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook)
– The submission should be an original work of the entrant and will go through a plagiarism test.
– Besides three winners, Honorable mentions shall be featured on all our social media pages and thalitalks.com.
