Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) – What? Why? How?

The Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore conducts the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) annually for individuals seeking admission to Masters and Ph.D. programs. The upcoming exam for the year 2024 will be held online, and notifications regarding the exam will be released in July 2023. The application fee varies depending on the category. For general category applicants, the fee is Rs 1500. Any necessary modifications to the application can be made until October. The applications will undergo a review process in January, and subsequently, admit cards will be issued to the candidates. The exam is scheduled to take place on a Saturday and Sunday during the first or second week of February. By the end of the same month, the answer keys for the question papers will be published on the official website. The exam results will be declared in March, and the mark cards will also be made available during that month.

The questions in the examination cover various topics such as Architecture and Design, Construction and Management, Environmental Management and Design, Urban Design and Maintenance, Housing, Services and Internal Architecture, Architectural History and Contemporary Architecture, Construction Methods and Management, Construction Services and Environmental Protection, Regional Housing and Planning, Structural Engineering and Management, and Infrastructure Design.
